State-of-the Art New Crown High School Project for MCPS

It is one of Keller’s greatest pleasures and proudest moments to announce that we are working in conjunction with Montgomery County Public Schools and Stantec Architecture, Inc. on the new Crown High School Project! This new high school will be a state-of-the-crown-Image2-small.pngart facility that will benefit generations of young Marylanders to come.

Crown High School will meet the requirements of the educational specifications for a new high school by providing 129 teaching spaces for Grades 9-12. The new facility will initially be able to accommodate up to 2,219 students with a core capacity of 2,700 students.

The school will be designed and constructed to meet requirements of the Maryland High Performance Building Program by conforming with Green Globes through its survey process. It will help to ease crowding from 5 surrounding school clusters, be a sprawling five-stories high and 230,869 SF in size.  The school will include several courtyards and encompass approximately 65% of open space.

crown-Image3-small.pngThe ground level (school bus drop-off level) will house the majority of the physical education spaces, athletics, the Special Education School Community Based Program, technology laboratories, dining, kitchen, and building services. The first floor will house the main administration offices, health suite, health classrooms, the media center, and the auditorium. The second floor will house the Social Emotional Special Education Services suite, counseling, core academic classrooms and laboratories, and support spaces. The third and fourth floors will house additional core academic classrooms, laboratories, and support spaces. Additionally, a 4,000 GSF wellness suite has been included and will be located on the first floor, adjacent to the health suite.

We recognize the complexity of this project, and we are beyond excited to be a part of the project team working on this educational facility. We also look forward to witnessing the community’s use and enjoyment of it!
